Seacat Intrepid, the first DNV GL certified 26m-crew transfer vessel to profit from a unique workboat tank-testing programme, is currently working from Helgoland (Germany) on Wind MW’s Meerwind offshore wind farm.

The vessel left Isle of Wight to work on the German wind farm at the end of October, a day after it was officially unveiled by the operator ‒ Seacat Services.

Seacat Intrepid is the first of class South Cat 26m at South Boats IOW, the UK’s manufacturer of state-of-the-art Wind Farm Service Vessels (WFSV).

The most noticeable feature of the 26m is the height of the bow and definition of the wet deck along with the depth of the hulls coupled to reduced height of the technician saloon.

Model testing results are showing dramatic improvements to ride comfort in higher sea states, significantly better wind turbine access performance and lower fuel burn rates, all of which have been verified on initial sea trials.
