FloWave Ocean Energy Research Facility has appointed marine specialist Dr. Jamie Grimwade as their new Business Development Manager.

Dr Grimwade’s role is to further develop FloWave’s growing pipeline of commercial and academic test clients in wave, tidal, offshore wind and vessel design.

Jamie comes with a wealth of experience within the marine renewables industry, having spent ten of the last eleven years at the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec) in Blyth, Northumberland, where he was instrumental in attracting significant new business opportunities in his role as Principal Marine Specialist.

More recently he has consulted on marine energy topics such as floating LiDAR, new standards for offshore wind, wave and tidal developments and technology road-mapping.

Jamie brings his considerable experience and track record of winning wave test contracts, forming delivery consortia and securing external project funding, and joins the existing FloWave team just as the world-leading facility is ramping up its order book and pipeline of client tests.

“I am thrilled to be part of the FloWave team. My entire career has been spent in the marine industry and in pursuit of the very highest standards of research and innovation. I look forward to continuing that tradition at FloWave and in providing the best outcomes to FloWave’s current and future test clients,” Dr Grimwade said.

Stuart Brown, Chief Executive of FloWave TT , said: “ We are delighted to make a top quality appointment like Jamie to further enhance our existing team.

“Thanks to our world-unique technical design and the hard work of our team, the FloWave tank is well on track to become the ‘go to’ facility for fully representative onshore testing of offshore conditions for the various offshore energy sectors and naval architecture.

“Jamie can look forward to continuing his earlier success and will help to cement FloWave at the forefront of the offshore energy sector as the world’s most sophisticated onshore wave and current test facility.

“As these sectors continue to grow and FloWave along with them, we are now investing in the quality of people required to ensure that our clients receive the best service and technical expertise, exactly as befits a world-class R&D facility such as FloWave,” added Brown .
