Dr. Urban Keussen (49) has been appointed deputy CEO of TenneT Holding B.V. and chairman of the management board of TenneT TSO GmbH. Keussen will consequently take over from Martin Fuchs (60).

On 1st July 2014 after 34 years in the energy industry Fuchs will step down as chairman of the management board of TenneT TSO GmbH and deputy CEO of TenneT Holding B.V.

Urban Keussen is currently Senior Vice President in charge of the Technology & Innovation Division at E.ON SE. He previously spent almost 20 years working in several senior management positions at E.ON and its predecessor companies. Keussen was also on the executive board of E.ON Netz GmbH, which was subsequently taken over by TenneT. Urban Keussen has a doctorate in applied physics from Kiel University.

“In Urban Keussen TenneT is gaining a very experienced manager. He gives us the benefit of his technical background and detailed knowledge of the German and international energy industry. Over recent years he has proved that he is very good at bringing about wide-ranging improvements to processes, and at implementing efficiency programmes and innovations. I am full of confidence that Dr Keussen is the right man to keep TenneT TSO GmbH on course as it moves into the future. I look forward to working with him,” says Mel Kroon, CEO of TenneT Holding .

“As the largest investor in the energy transition, TenneT faces a big and important challenge over the coming years, namely expanding and strengthening the high-voltage grid both onshore and offshore. I very much look forward to having the opportunity to make an active contribution to this in my new role,” said Urban Keussen .

Following the appointment of Dr Urban Keussen, he and Lex Hartman form the management board of TenneT TSO GmbH. At the same time, the Executive Board of TenneT Holding B.V. will consist of Mel Kroon (CEO), Urban Keussen (deputy CEO), Ben Voorhorst (Chief Operations Officer, COO), Otto Jager (Chief Financial Officer, CFO), Lex Hartman (Chief Development Officer, CDO), and Wilfried Breuer (Managing Director, Offshore).

Martin Fuchs is being appointed to the supervisory board of TenneT TSO GmbH with effect from 1st October 2014. The executive and supervisory boards of TenneT Holding and TenneT TSO GmbH thank him for the great commitment he has shown in the service of the company.
