The French government is going to announce results of the second offshore wind tender round later today.
Energy minister Ségolène Royal will hold a press conference at 16:30, when she will announce the winners for the 500MW Le Treport and Noirmoutier development sites.
Le Tréport area was opened for competition during the first call for tenders, but due to the high price, the area was left for the second round.
The first consortium, led by GDF Suez and Areva, also including EDPR and Neoen Marine, has been recommended as favourable bidder by the Commission for Energy Regulation.
The second consortium, consisting of WPD, led by EDF and Alstom is also bidding for the sites.
Both wind farms need to be commissioned by 2023, comprising up to 100 wind turbines each.
