Russia: OceanRusEnergy Develops New Approach to Navigation AIS

OceanRusEnergy suggests its own solution to broaden the coverage of the network for Automated Information Systems (AIS) thanks to the additional sea-based Information System bases. Currently, Information Systems are based on sea lines, which put bounds to the coverage zones up to maximum 30-40 miles

OceanRusEnergy suggests its own solution to broaden the coverage of the network for Automated Information Systems (AIS) thanks to the additional sea-based Information System bases.

Currently, Information Systems are based on sea lines, which put bounds to the coverage zones up to maximum 30-40 miles offshore. New e-Navigation concept assumes to introduce essentialy expensive new technologies. In its turn, OceanRusEnergy has developed an idea of a sea-based station that will be represented by a mast, up to 100 m high above the sea level, on a berth.

All the technology will be placed inside the mast, electrical power supply will be provided by a wave power generator by OceanRusEnergy, and storage battery room will be also located inside the mast. This is an enviroment friendly solution. Wireless, wide-band connection allows to avoid running fiber optic cable along the sea bottom. Sea-based station will be technically equiped like the ashore one.

Such station helps to solve tasks connected with the increased safety and security in shipping through better organization of data on ships and on shore, and better data exchange and communication between the two; it enables broadcast of the information about ship location and ship movement to the ships, not equiped with Automanted Information System and accompanied by the radio radar station within VTMS (Vessel tracking management system); location and state control of the navigation equipment of the ships; communication of the GNSS (global navigation satellite systems) differential corrections; helps avoid wireless direction finder and/or voice radio communication with the aim of ship identification; and in the end, it enhances innovation development of the sea harbors , introduces up to date technologies, electronic information management systems.
