Germany: Munich Re to Invest in Offshore Wind Projects

Germany Munich Re to Invest in Offshore Wind Projects

Munich Re, one of the world’s leading reinsurers, could acquire a stake in an offshore wind farm project in their intention to invest EUR 2.5 billion in renewable energy projects, reports Bloomberg.

In regard to the company’s negotiations with utilities such as EON SE and RWE AG over investment in their offshore wind projects, Robert Pottmann, head of MEAG’s renewable-energy unit, said to Bloomberg: “It would be a grid-connected wind farm developed, financed and operated by a big utility.”

MEAG, Munich Re’s investment company, only plans to invest in projects that are connected to the grid.
