Cuxhaven Steel Construction (CSC), which belongs to the BARD Group and specialises in steel constructions for offshore wind farms, will cease production as of April 30 2013.

The management board and the works council had already reached a consensus last August on a corresponding social plan and a reconciliation of interests. As a result of an increase in the order volume for the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm as well as various smaller third-party contracts, the company succeeded in continuing production through the first quarter of 2013.

Unfortunately and despite intensive efforts, the search for an investor for CSC has remained unsuccessful. The inevitable decision to discontinue business operations ultimately reflects the present situation in the offshore wind industry which has for some time suffered from a lack of new orders, due in part to the uncertain political framework conditions.

25 of approximately 120 employees will transfer to other BARD companies, including offshore operations.
