Former CEO of Nordex Thomas Richterich has assumed the management role of Vestas Central Europe business unit, replacing Dr. Wolfgang J. Schmitz.

“The current situation in the wind industry and in the global marketplace requires that Vestas takes a different strategic approach to the very important Central European market. Therefore, we will focus more on dedicated sales activities in this region, “said Chief Sales Officer, Juan Araluce.

“There is no doubt that Central Europe and Germany in particular are very important for Vestas. We are convinced that this reorganization in Vestas Central Europe will contribute to even higher competitiveness of the business unit.”

Until a permanent replacement for Dr. Wolfgang J. Schmitz is found, Thomas Richterich takes over immediately as interim head of the Vestas Central Europe, in order to guarantee the continuation of their business.

Thomas Richterich is the former CEO of Nordex who brings extensive experience and a profound knowledge of the wind industry and the Central European market.
