USA: Fugro’s Jack-Up to Take Cape Wind Soil Samples

Last week, the UK based Fugro commenced the assembly of the red jack-up barge at the New Bedford Harbor, South Coast Today news site writes. After assembly, the company will use this vessel to take samples of the ocean floor where the Cape Wind’s planned 130 wind turbines will be located.

Cape Wind project director Rachel Pachter said: “We have a sense of how thick the layers are but until we have the samples we won’t know exactly what they are.”
