As the Cape News reported, more than 100 people attended the Department of Public Utilities hearing regarding Cape Wind on Wednesday night, which took place in the Knight Auditorium at Barnstable High School.

Proponents for Cape Wind were outnumbered by three to one.

State regulators will hold a total of three hearings for the Nstar Electric contract with Cape Wnd to buy 27 percent of the wind farm’s power.

This is the second agreement of its kind which has been preceded by an already approved National Grid deal to purchase 50 percent of the project’s power.

Mark Rodgers, spokesman for Cape Wind, advocated that the project would raise consumers’ bills by USD 1.08 to USD 1.16 per month.

Opposing the project, David Moriarty of Falmouth said the wind farm would cost Cape Code residents millions of dollars and could have negative effect on their health.

The third hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 7 PM at the Department of Public Utilities in Boston.
