Abu Dhabi based Masdar is assessing the prospect of its entry into the German offshore wind farm market. In 2008, the company bought 20% of UK’s London Array offshore wind farm.
“We have been conducting many negotiations in German offshore wind market,” said Frank Wouters, head of the energy division of the State Ökokonzerns, reports the Financial Times Deutschland. “We would be very interested in investing, but the returns would need to improve.” Masdar’s interest in German offshore wind farms is a good sign for the wind industry and politics.
By 2030, Germany will be powering 15% of its electricity demand from offshore wind.
