International renewable energy consultancy and products group Natural Power has announced new positions within its management team including Ted Leeming as Managing Director and Steve Pears as Commercial Director.

Current non-executive Board member Ted Leeming was one of the co-founders of Natural Power in the mid 1990’s and now takes on the role of MD for the consultancy business. Steve Pears, current Director of Construction, now steps up to provide key commercial services across the business having built one of the most successful wind farm construction management teams in the UK.

Since being founded, Natural Power has succeeded in growing its offerings strategically to become a leading ‘360-degree’ renewable energy consultancy, covering all areas of wind, marine and biomass projects from site selection and evaluation to design, construction, operation and optimisation. The company now operates in 13 offices across three continents and employs over 250 renewable energy experts. Natural Power’s Technical team pioneers best practices in remote sensing, computational fluid dynamics and wind energy analysis whilst the Planning & Development Services team has consented over 1200MW of client projects successfully. The company’s Asset Management team manages over 70 wind farms on behalf of utilities and Independent Power Producers whilst the Construction Team are currently managing activities on 1 in 3 UK onshore wind farm sites. Offshore, the company deploys industry leading products and is currently co-ordinating marine activities on 50% of the UK’s installed offshore capacity.

These new appointments to the management team will be responsible for delivering key projects recently identified within the business, whilst ensuring continued quality of work and close client interactions. Ted Leeming comments: “Following a number of years of growth and acquisition at Natural Power, I am delighted to step into the position of MD and to help drive a number of these opportunities forward. There have been many developments at Natural Power since I co-founded the business in the mid 90’s however one thing always remains – a passion for sympathetic renewable development that meets the economic objectives of our international client base – and I am proud to represent that vision on behalf of the company.”

Commenting on the announcement, Steve Pears noted: “Natural Power is a successful, growing consultancy and products business which I am proud to help drive forward in the role of Commercial Director, alongside original co-founder Ted Leeming and the wider Executive Team. 2012 will also be a key year for onshore wind farm construction – my team will continue to work closely with our customers to deliver their projects successfully. It is an exciting time for renewables, as ever, and I am keen to ensure Natural Power helps our wide client base to achieve their financial targets for renewables investment.”
