UNED Starts Master's Study in Wind Energy (Spain)

On January 19 starts master’s degree program in Wind Energy at National University of Distance Education (UNED), the one of the first in Europe. The registration period ends on January 16.

The Wind Energy Association (AEE), which is involved in the project since its inception, has signed an agreement with the UNED by which they participate in the project in various ways.

Given the needs of wind farm companies have professionals specifically trained in wind energy, two years ago the UNED launched a modular program in Wind Energy graduate with two choices: get the title of Expert in Wind Energy (for which necessary 20 ECTS) and the Specialist in Wind Energy (30 credits).

Working Group of AEE identified the need to raise the master’s degree program level with a 60-credit requirement in order to have equal opportunities offered by the surrounding countries, like in Germany and Denmark.

Addition to experts from ESA, the teaching team consists of professors from different fields of industrial engineering schools UNED and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The program is aimed at graduates who wish to acquire or complete a technical training in the field of wind energy in order to work in an industry that employs 30,000 people.

“Our priority is providing quality technical training in the field of wind energy, in close cooperation with companies in the sector.” said July Hernandez, professor and director at UNED.
