Perfect Levelling of Transition Pieces in Denmark

MT Højgaard has awarded Enerpac the contract for the supply of cylinders for the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm (Denmark). The cylinders are used to level the 111 Transition Pieces in the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm.

DONG Energy is developing the 400 megawatts wind farm. The Anholt Wind Farm is located in the ‘Kattegat’, near Anholt Island, and will be the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark. Jumbo Offshore is responsible for execution of the installation of all Transition Pieces. Every Transition Piece that is installed will be levelled using Enerpac equipment. The levelling operation takes place before grouting and after placing the Transition Piece over the monopile. A Transition Piece weighs approximately 200 tons, is 17 meters tall and has a diameter of approximately 5.5 meters.

It is vital that the Transition Piece is 100% levelled on the monopile to be sure the wind turbine will be straight up and functions with maximum output. The levelling will be done using the Enerpac Synchronised Levelling System; an electronically monitored control system that has been developed specifically for the wind market. It analyses the data and makes immediate corrections to the movement of the cylinders to maintain the required accuracy in a safe, reliable and timely manner. The technology of the Enerpac Synchronised Levelling System results from using Enerpac’s expertise in on and offshore projects for more than 10 years.
