The merger between Gamesa and Siemens Wind Power has become effective as of 3 April, after the registration of the combined company in the Mercantile Registry of Biscay, in Spain.
The European Commission has cleared unconditionally under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa by Siemens.
The European Commission will decide on the Siemens-Gamesa merger by 13 March. The deal involves Gamesa absorbing Siemens’s wind power assets in exchange for newly-issued shares in Gamesa, with Siemens owning 59% of the new company and Iberdrola retaining an 8% interest.
