Denmark has narrowed down the list of sites that could accommodate the country’s next large-scale offshore wind farm. It will be built either in the North Sea, close to Horns Rev 3 and Vesterhav Syd, or at the Kriegers Flak area in the Baltic Sea.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has issued a solicitation seeking 800MW or more of new offshore wind projects, which will lead to the state having its first large-scale offshore wind development contracts in place in the spring of 2019.
An 800MW offshore wind project is part of the Danish government’s coming energy proposal, the country’s Energy, Supply and Climate Minister Lars Christian Lilleholt was reported as saying.
On 29 June, five Massachusetts electric distribution companies, in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for 400MW, and up to 800MW, of offshore wind generation and associated transmission projects to enter into long-term contracts of 15 – 20 years.
