    Port of Blyth has released its 2017 financial results, reporting a turnover of GBP 20.6 million alongside an adjusted operating profit of GBP 1.32 million and total investment of GBP 4.2 million. Last year also saw record commercial vessel movements which grew by 3% on 2016’s previous record high, while total cargo tonnage increased by 6% over the same period.

    Offshore wind farms generated a record 7.8TWh of electricity in the fourth quarter of 2017, spurred on by increased capacity and higher wind speeds compared to the same period a year before, according to a report by the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

    Six projects worth EUR 7.5 billion reached Final Investment Decision (FID) last year – a 60% decrease from 2016 and the first decrease in investments since 2012 – according to WindEurope, which states that the transition to auctions has resulted in a lull in FIDs and that the auctions of the last two years are expected to lead to new project FIDs in 2018.

    SSE informed that it expects its 2017/2018 capital and investment expenditure to be around GBP 1.6 billion, instead of previously anticipated GBP 1.7 billion. From 1 April to 31 December 2017, SSE’s capital spend totalled GBP 1.1 billion and has included, among other things, around GBP 355 million investment in on- and offshore wind.

EUR 2.8 billion), compared to the previously guided range of DKK 19-21 billion.
