All Turbines Up at 488 MW French Offshore Wind Farm

Wind Farm Update

All 61 wind turbines have been installed at the French offshore wind farm Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier, according to Global Wind Service (GWS), the company that was in charge of the wind turbine pre-assembly.

GWS was awarded the pre-assembly contract by Siemens Gamesa and began work in December 2024. The scope for GWS included the pre-assembly of towers and HSBM installation, conducted at the Port of Saint-Nazaire.

Located in the French Atlantic Ocean waters, 11.7 kilometres off the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometres off the island of Noirmoutier, the offshore wind farm features Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines, the first of which was installed in May this year by Jan De Nul’s jack-up vessel Vole au Vent.

In June, with several of its turbines installed, Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier started supplying green electricity to the French grid.

The 488 MW offshore wind farm is owned by a consortium of Ocean Winds, Banque des Territoires, Sumitomo, and Vendée Energie.
