Offshore Construction Associates Wins Vineyard Wind Deal

Offshore Construction Associates (OCA) has won a contract to provide installation management services for the Vineyard Wind offshore wind project in Massachusetts, U.S.

The contract follows 12 months of support by OCA’s UK business and is expected to create jobs and further employment opportunities in Boston and other locations in the U.S. until at least 2021, the company said.

“This is a great success for our US business and reflects our strategy to proactively support the growth of the US offshore wind industry. It also demonstrates Vineyard Wind’s commitment to build the local supply chain in Massachusetts,” said OCA Founder Nick Wordsworth.

“OCA will deliver our services locally in Massachusetts, upskilling our new hires to combine in-house offshore wind knowledge with their existing US technical and commercial skill sets. We have already made one new hire directly to support this award and are looking forward to welcoming more employees shortly.”

Vineyard Wind will feature MHI Vestas 9.5MW turbines located some 14 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard. The 800MW project will enter the construction phase this year and is expected to be operational in 2021.

Recently, the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) issued the federal consistency concurrence for the wind farm.
