13 Deutsche Bucht Foundations In Place

The 269MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind project in the German North Sea is progressing on time and on budget, with 13 out of 33 foundations installed to date, Mike Crawley, President and CEO of Northland Power, said.

The remaining 18 monopile foundations and two mono bucket foundations are expected to be installed by mid-2019, Northland Power, the owner and developer of the project, said.

The foundations will support 33 MHI Vestas 8.4MW wind turbines which are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2019.

Van Oord is responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter-array cables, and the offshore substation, and the transport of the wind turbines. MHI Vestas is handling the installation of the turbines. The offshore wind turbines will be connected to the BorWin beta offshore converter station, which is already operating.

The jack-up Seajacks Scylla installed the first monopile foundations at the site some 95 kilometres northwest of the island of Borkum in early September.
