Jan De Nul Settles in Taichung Port

Jan De Nul has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) to establish a logistics hub at the Taichung Port for the Formosa 1 Phase 2 project.

Jan De Nul has agreed to lease 7.6 hectares of space in the Taichung Port which will be used as the storage, assembly and load-out area for the Formosa 1 Phase 2’s monopile foundations and other underwater infrastructure.

The 120MW wind farm, due to be completed in the second half of 2019, will comprise 20 Siemens Gamesa 6MW wind turbines and is the first commercial offshore wind farm to be built in Taiwan.

Back in May, Jan De Nul won a contract to design, procure and install 20 monopile foundations on the wind farm. The scope of works also includes scour protection and cable installation.

The wind farm is owned by Formosa Wind Power Co., a partnership of Macquarie Capital Group Limited (50%), Ørsted AS (35%) and Swancor Renewable Energy Co. Ltd (15%).
