Peter Madsen Rederi Wraps Up Horns Rev 3 Gig

According to PMR, the stone beds will be used as a stable platform for the jack-up installation vessel and were required to be installed in time for the first turbine load-out.

The project included capital dredging of approximately 30,000m3 of the seabed, dumping of the material offshore, procurement, transport handling and installation of around 20,000m3 of stones, as well as extensive multibeam surveying.

“Building on vast experience from similar projects, we executed the project ahead of schedule in less than a month,” said Michael Normann, CEO at PMR.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up Brave Tern recently arrived in Esbjerg to load out the first set of turbine components to be installed at the 406.7MW project.

Located off the Danish west coast, the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm will comprise 49 MHI Vestas 8.3MW turbines installed on monopile foundations.

Vattenfall, the developer of the project, expects to commission the wind farm in 2020.
