Barges carrying the first transition pieces are already en route to Vlissingen and the first unit is expected to be installed in ”a little more than a week”, a spokesperson for Vattenfall told Offshore WIND.

All of the 49 transition pieces, built by Denmark’s Bladt Industries and Belgium’s Smulders, are to be installed by September, Vattenfall said.

As reported earlier today, the jack-up Brave Tern is currently in Esbjerg, Denmark, and is loading the first sets of MHI Vestas 8.3MW wind turbine components for the Horns Rev 3 project.

Located 25-40 kilometres off the Danish west coast, the 406.7MW wind farm will be fully commissioned in 2020.
