At the beginning of May, Bold Tern installed the first turbine on a suction bucket jacket foundation at the offshore site some 57km off the north-west coast of Germany.

The wind farm will comprise a total of 56 turbines, the first 8MW units delivered in Germany, mounted on 20 suction bucket jacket foundations and 36 monopile foundations.

According to Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, the fastest installation of four turbines on the project was done in four days, with the fastest installation of one turbine taking less than 15 hours.

The 450MW Borkum Riffgrund II offshore wind project is located next to the Borkum Riffgrund I wind farm.

Ørsted, the developer of the project, plans to officially inaugurate the wind farm next year.
