Under the new cooperation, Gram & Juhl will supply MHI Vestas with a complete TCM solution including the TCM Monitoring Service for the turbines.

According to MHI Vestas, the V164 turbine platform produces energy more efficiently than any other wind turbine in history, and thus it is vital to install a powerful condition monitoring system (CMS) in order to ensure optimal performance of the platform.

“It is with great pride we announce that Gram & Juhl once again has been chosen as a preferred partner by an OEM,” said Axel Juhl, CEO at Gram & Juhl. “The contract for the 193 systems is only the beginning of what I believe will become a superb cooperation between Gram & Juhl A/S and MHI Vestas Offshore Wind.”

Gram & Juhl’s TCM systems are installed in more than 80% of offshore turbines worldwide, the company said, emphasizing that with the order from MHI Vestas it expects to supply more than 90% of the offshore market in the future.

To remind, MHI Vestas recently secured final certification for the V164-9.5 MW turbine, which means that the most powerful wind turbine model in the market is now fully commercialized. It features minimal design changes to the 8MW model, including a redesigned gearbox and cooling system upgrades.
