The topside is expected to leave the yard and head to the installation site in the German North Sea soon. The substation’s jacket foundation was installed earlier this month.

The substation, built by a consortium of ENGIE Fabricom, Iemants and CG, will connect the 497MW Hohe See wind farm to the German high voltage grid via the BorWin3 converter platform.

The EnBW Hohe See wind farm will comprise 71 Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines installed some 90 kilometres north of Borkum and 100 kilometres north-west of Helgoland.

The commissioning of the wind farm is planned for the third quarter of 2019.
