The scope also includes scour protection and cable installation. Formosa 1 Phase 2 will comprise 20 Siemens Gamesa 6MW wind turbines installed on monopile foundations and will be an addition to the already operating 8MW Formosa 1 Phase 1.

This is Jan De Nul’s second renewables contract outside Europe. Recently, the company signed the Changhua OWF contract with Taiwan Power Company.

The 128MW Formosa 1, located off the coast of Chunan Town, Miaoli County, in North-West Taiwan, will be the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in Taiwan before 2020.

The wind farm is owned by Formosa Wind Power Co., a partnership of Macquarie Capital Group Limited (50%), Ørsted AS (35%) and Swancor Renewable Energy Co. Ltd (15%).
