Prysmian’s Ulisse Breaks the Ice (VIDEO)

Prysmian has shared a video of its cable laying vessel Ulisse loading submarine power cables in Pikkala, Finland, in extremely cold weather and surrounded by ice.

According to Prysmian, this is Ulisse’s first time in extremely cold sailing conditions at a freezing -20°C and in an ice thickness of 35cm.

After the cable loading operations performed at the company’s Centre of excellence in Pikkala, the vessel has sailed across the Baltic Sea to install the cable systems for the offshore wind farm cluster West of Adlergrund in Germany.
