The jack-up vessel Seajacks Hydra will arrive on the Beatrice site this week and connect to OTM 1, the first of the two Siemens Offshore Transformer Modules that the wind farm will feature, to provide accommodation facilities during its commissioning.

In due course, the Seajacks-owned vessel will be moved to OTM 2 to provide the same services. The second OTM at the Beatrice site is yet to be installed.

Nexans is working on routing, jointing and termination works on the two export cables, EC1 and EC3, which have been pulled in to the OTM, with the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown on site as the support and accommodation vessel for these works on OTM 1.

So far, Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) has installed 45 jacket foundations at the offshore wind farm using its vessel Oleg Strashnov, which recently left the Beatrice site to install the substation for the Arkona offshore wind farm in Germany. The jacket installation at Beatrice has been assigned to SHL’s vessel Stanislav Yudin.

The first of 84 7MW wind turbines, to be delivered by Siemens Gamesa, are scheduled to be installed this summer. The 588MW offshore wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2019.
