As Offshore WIND reported earlier, Spanish floating LiDAR specialist EOLOS supplied the EOLOS FLS200 LiDAR, designed for the offshore industry incorporating the ZephIR 300M wind LiDAR, for works at PGE’s Baltica offshore wind farm.

The research team will have constant access to data, which is expected to provide a detailed forecast of wind conditions at the level of the turbine rotors.

The forecast will include information on energy and economic efficiency of the offshore wind farm, PGE said.

The Polish wind farm developer invited tenders for a study on the EW Baltica-3 offshore wind farm project in April 2016, seeking a company to measure wind conditions and acquire data using a special floating platform equipped with a LiDAR device.

The 1GW offshore wind farm project is located some 32km from Łeba in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea.
