ELA Living Quarters for Jumbo TP Crew

ELA Container Offshore has recently delivered two ELA Offshore Living Quarters for Jumbo Offshore’s Heavy Lift Crane Vessel (HLCV) MV Fairplayer, which worked on the transportation and installation of transition pieces (TPs) for the Arkona offshore wind farm.

“Jumbo was looking for extra sleeping accommodation on short notice for their client and available deck space was limited. As we always keep containers in stock we were able to deliver instantly,” said Frank ter Haak, Business Development Netherlands and Belgium at ELA Container Offshore.

Jumbo Offshore’s Construction Manager, Arjen van der Meer, said: “I have seen the ELA Living Quarters on the Offshore Energy Exhibition in Amsterdam in October and I was impressed by the possibilities of their modular system and the high quality finish. Also their 20ft ISO dimensions will save us a lot of valuable deck space.”

Shortly before commencing the works on Arkona, Fairplayer was outfitted with an SMST gangway due to all TPs being installed floating in DP2 mode.

The installation of the 60 TPs was finalized earlier this week, ahead of schedule, at the site some 35 kilometers northeast of the island of Rügen in the German Baltic Sea.

The 385MW Arkona, owned by E.ON and Statoil, will comprise 60 Siemens 6MW turbines scheduled for commissioning in 2019.
