Oleg Strashnov to Stay on Beatrice Until New Year

Seaway Heavy Lifting’s (SHL) vessel Oleg Strashnov – which left the Beatrice site after installing the 24th jacket foundation in late September and returned to the job in November – has put the 25th jacket in place and thus officially resumed the works after more than two months of suspension.

After leaving the Beatrice site on 2 October, Oleg Strashnov was reported to be deployed on the installation of the jacket foundation for the Merkur offshore substation in the German part of the North Sea. Now that it is back and working full steam at the Beatrice site in the Outer Moray Firth off Scotland, it will remain there until the beginning of January 2018, when Stanislav Yudin will take over the jacket installation.

Stanislav Yudin will re-mobilise for the works after installing all the pile sets at 84 wind turbine and two Offshore Transformer Module (OTM) locations earlier in December.

Since the piling campaign is now completed, Aberdeen University plans to recover all its scientific equipment, installed to record echolocation clicks of dolphins and porpoises.

The inter-array cable installation is also progressing at the Beatrice offshore site, with SHL and Siem Offshore Services having completed the installation and trenching of 15 of the total of 24 inter-array cables.
