Senvion 10MW+ Offshore Wind Turbine Prototype Ready By Late 2019, Early 2020 (Expertise Hub VIDEO)

Senvion plans to launch a prototype of the 10MW+ offshore wind turbine by late 2019 or early 2020, Jörg Philp, Head of Sales Offshore at Senvion, said.

The German wind turbine manufacturer is developing the double-digit capacity turbine in cooperation with 13 other companies and research institutes under the ReaLCoE project and is hoping to secure funding under the EU’s Horizon 2020 program in early 2018.

If the funding is not granted, Senvion will continue with the designing of the wind turbine, which is almost completed, Philp said.
