Ailes Marines Deploys Second LiDAR in Bay of Saint-Brieuc

Ailes Marines, a joint venture between Iberdrola, RES and Caisse des Dépôts, is currently deploying an EOLOS FL200 floating LiDAR that will measure wind conditions in the south part of the site of its future offshore wind farm in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.

In December, AXYS Technologies’ WindSentinel floating LiDAR was deployed as part of the project.

The two floating LiDARs will provide high-precision data on the northern and southern areas of the site. The data gathered will make it possible to refine the knowledge of the wind resource, and thus the energy produced, as well as to record other valuable data for the prediction and preparation of maintenance operations.

The EUR 2 billion Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project will comprise 62 Adwen AD8-180 wind turbines.

Offshore construction is scheduled to start in 2018 and the wind farm is expected to go online in 2020.
