FPP said that the partnership provides an opportunity to draw on OPES’ knowledge within the design of safe, stable, and cost-efficient floating marine structures and mooring systems from the oil & gas industry.

Based on the development and testing, including two years of grid-connected testing in Denmark, FPP is currently engaged in the technology supply for three commercial array projects in Europe.

OPES stated: “Ocean Power & Energy Services was established to bring leading marine technologies from the oil and gas market into the offshore renewable sector. We have chosen to enter into this agreement as a continued expansion into the offshore renewable market with the leading hybrid technology.

“We see an increasing demand for know-how and competencies related to advanced mooring and floater structures to support cost efficient renewable field developments. We look forward to providing marine technology support to FPP in the coming future in their ongoing commercialization phase for their combined wind and wave device.”

FPP CEO Anders Køhler, said: “We are very pleased with this agreement with OPES. The partnership will bring significant value to FPP’s technology design and value proposition of low cost of energy and easy accessibility for operation and maintenance activities.”
