Nominations Open for Scottish Green Energy Awards

The UK’s largest renewable energy competition was launched yesterday (August 6), with 13 categories designed to recognise the people and organisations who are helping supply almost half of Scotland’s power.

The Scottish Green Energy Awards, now in its 12th year, attracts more than 1,250 people to Edinburgh each December, and nominations are now open.

Scottish Renewables Director of Marketing Jillian McKenna said: “Scotland’s reputation as a green power hub is famous across the world, and the Scottish Green Energy Awards have reflected that prominence for more than a decade now.

“The event is our opportunity to reflect on and recognise the determination, innovation and creativity that has defined the growth of our industry and ensured 2014 was another record-breaking year for renewables output in Scotland.”

Renewables generated 49.8% of Scotland’s electricity consumption in 2014, making the sector Scotland’s largest source of power.

The event, sponsored by EDF Energy Renewables, will be held on December 3 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Nominations close at 5pm on Friday October 9.

Matthieu Hue, CEO of EDF Energy Renewables said: “These awards are a fantastic way to celebrate the passion and expertise in the renewables industry in Scotland and I would encourage as many people as possible to apply this year.

“As a company, EDF Energy Renewables is delighted to sponsor the awards again as it is important to highlight the wide range of talents across the country.”
