TenneT’s First Major Offshore Wind Grid Connection Operational

TenneT’s offshore connection BorWin2 is now operational and transports the German North Sea electricity to the grid on land.

BorWin2 has a capacity of 800 megawatts (MW) and can provide around one million households with electricity.

With BorWin2, four grid connections with a total capacity of approximately 1,400 MW are realized. In addition, at this moment there are eight offshore connections under construction. Two of them will be completed soon.

TenneT expects that between now and 2019, a total of more than 7,100 MW of connection capacity for wind farms will be realized at the German North Sea.
