Fishermen’s Energy: XEMC Still in the Game with Other Potential Suppliers

Following the news circling the media a few days ago, saying that Fishermen’s Energy gave up on XEMC as its offshore wind turbine supplier, the developer denied taking such move and stated that the Chinese wind turbine manufacturer is still in the game with all the other potential suppliers.

This week, Fishermen’s Energy disclosed information that it is in talks with Siemens and Vestas to supply six turbines for a small offshore wind pilot project in New Jersey, USA. In November, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) will hold another hearing on the proposal and the developer said that it plans to consider all the options to bring the project price further down, including getting more efficient wind turbines.

However, the company explained that it did not rule out XEMC as a turbine supplier, but is in talks with a number of them, aiming to find the best solution.

The initial plan was to use XEMC’s 5 XD115/5MW turbines. Two of these turbines are already up and running in China and the Netherlands.
