Bureau Veritas to Hold Masterclass at All-Energy 2014

Bureau Veritas will be attending the All-Energy 2014 Exhibition and Conference, the UK’s largest renewable energy event taking place in Europe’s energy city, Aberdeen, on 21-22 May 2014.

Bureau Veritas to Hold Masterclass at All-Energy 2014Bureau Veritas to Hold Masterclass at All-Energy 2014As the demand for renewable energy grows, projects get larger and the technology and capacity of wind turbines continually develop and many questions are posed:

  • How can stakeholders today ensure they can deliver safety on ever more complex and large offshore wind projects?
  • How can you ensure operational staff understand how fires start, develop and spread in wind turbines; a subject rarely covered in sufficient detail by existing training packages?
  • How can the reliability of a wind farm be accurately modelled and the availability estimated at all stages of the lifecycle allowing the assessment and evaluation of maintenance regimes to identify any bottlenecks and areas of improvements?
  • How can you assess the value and risks of increasing the operational life of your wind turbines beyond ‘year 20’ as an attractive alternative to decommissioning and repowering?

To answer all of these questions Bureau Veritas will hold 20 minute Masterclasses in Session Room 9 during the event.

John MacAskill, Head of Renewables (Europe) explains: “The renewables industry is still young and the risks are still either significant or uncertain. Bureau Veritas can and do provide guidance and assurance to identify and then mitigate risks for device and project developers and other stakeholders.”

The speakers for Masterclass, which will run twice a day for both days of the conference, are:

  • Dr Philip Rodger, Principal Consultant Scientific Advisor – Wind Turbine Fire and Safety.
  • Chris Craven, QHSE Manager Renewables – Building a superior safety culture and protecting all personnel.
  • Dr Babak Eftekharnejad, Principal Reliability Engineer – Improving the reliability of your wind farm.
  • Lorenzo Occhineri, Principal Wind Turbine Engineer ‐ Extension of wind turbine operational life.
