GRIDS 2010 – the Backbone of Europe’s Energy Guture (Germany)

A BETTER GRID, with LARGE QUANTITIES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY, intelligently interconnected between European countries is urgently needed. All the issues surrounding the grids debate will be discussed at a:

Two-day conference and exhibition, GRIDS 2010 organised by the

European Wind Energy Association (EWEA)

23-24 November 2010 in Berlin, (bcc, Berliner Congress Center)

You are invited to attend the conference, and in particular the opening session at 09:00 as well as

a press conference on 23 November at 10:30 with invited speakers:

Jochen Homann, State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology,

Katherina Reiche, State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment,

Daniel Dobbeni, President, European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity

Mariusz Swora, European Energy Regulators, President Energy Regulators of Poland

Arthouros Zervos, President, European Wind Energy Association

This will be followed by a briefing on the publication of EWEA’s grids report “Powering Europe” which will be published the next day with details of the major economic benefits of integrating large amounts of wind energy into Europe’s power systems.

Taking part will be over 500 key players from leading European utilities, manufacturers, transmission system operators and EU institutions. GRIDS 2010 will explore the key financial, technical, policy and regulatory issues surrounding the grids question.

• Planning a North Sea supergrid
