Plans are progressing for US offshore wind power with the DOI expecting to issue five offshore wind power leases over the next year. Deepwater Wind is planning to develop a 1000MW utility-scale offshore wind farm and announced a recent agreement to purchase 6MW wind turbines. Fishermen’s Energy of New Jersey is hoping to become the first operating wind venture by breaking ground off Atlantic City and the Atlantic Wind Connection plans to install an undersea transmission line that would run from southern Virginia to northern New Jersey.
