Operations and maintenance (O&M) costs make up 20-25% of the total lifetime costs of an offshore wind farm, making O&M a significant industrial sector in its own right. With more and more offshore assets due to be commissioned, the technical and commercial challenges of operating projects as well as the potential business opportunities are starting to receive much greater attention.

O&M is one of seven knowledge areas the ORE Catapult is focused on to drive down the cost of offshore renewable energy. Recognising this industry issue, the Catapult’s National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth is hosting a free, open seminar and workshop to discuss the various aspects associated with offshore O&M such as composites and condition monitoring, coatings and protection and access systems.
