Relevant companies can apply for one or both lots of the tender (one lot for each offshore wind farm), with the deadline for expression of interest set for 28 November. The award procedures are scheduled to start on 18 December.

The EPCI contract(s) encompass the design, supply, offshore installation, testing and commissioning of approximately 18,5 km 225 kV XLPE submarine high voltage cable for the Mermaid project and approximately 6,5 km 225 kV XLPE submarine high voltage cable for the Seastar project and the connections of the wind farms’ high voltage substations to the Belgian modular offshore grid. The works may also include future maintenance.

The Mermaid offshore wind farm will have a capacity between 232-266MW, while Seastar will have a capacity of 246MW. The offshore wind farms will be built between 2018 and 2020 after the developers agreed on a strike price with the Belgian government.
