The firm extension and new options replace the previously agreed options, GC Rieber Shipping stated. In 2016, the company signed a charter agreement with Senvion for a fixed period of 7 months with options to extend by up to 3 months, starting in spring 2017.

Polar Queen started operations with at the Nordsee One offshore wind farm in March 2017, supporting turbine commissioning at the 332MW project in the German North Sea by providing personnel and cargo transfer.

The vessel is fitted with a motion compensated gangway and boat landing to serve crew transfer vessels.

Turbine installation at Nordsee One was completed on 22 September, when the 54th and final Senvion 6.2M126 wind turbine was installed at the construction site. The offshore wind farm is scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of this year.
