The results of the auction are expected in September, Poulsen said.

The UK Government opened the second CfD Allocation Round in April, offering a total of GBP 290 million for renewable energy projects, including offshore wind. The second CfD allocation round is expected to close on 11 September.

Eligible projects in the second CfD round are those planned to be commissioned in 2021/22 and 2022/23.

Strike price for offshore wind projects to be delivered in 2021/22 is GBP 105/MWh, and for those that will start generating energy in 2022/23 the strike price is GBP 100/MWh.

UK’s Business and Energy Secretary Greg Clark granted development consent for the 1.8GW Hornsea Project Two offshore wind farm on in August 2016.

Located approximately 89km off the Yorkshire coast, the wind farm will comprise up to 300 wind turbines and will connect to the grid at North Killingholme in North Lincolnshire.
