Wood Group Carries Out TWB II Technical Due Diligence

Wood Group’s clean energy business, previously known as SgurrEnergy, supported Trianel Windpark Borkum II (TWB II) to financial close, as it had been appointed by Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co. KG to act as lender’s technical adviser.

As part of their scope of work, Wood Group’s clean energy team undertook a full scope technical due diligence of the project, which included review of the main site studies, the design of the wind park, the energy yield assessment as well as the key contracts for the construction of the offshore wind farm.

The offshore wind farm will consist of 32 Senvion 6.2M152 wind turbines, and with a power upgrade to around 6.33MW it will have the capacity to power up to 239,000 homes once operational.

The wind farm is the second phase of the Trianel Windpark Borkum offshore wind farm, which has been in operation since 2015. A part of the infrastructure for Trianel Windpark Borkum II is already in place and the wind farm will share the offshore substation with the first phase.

TWB II wind farm will be constructed throughout 2018 and is expected to commence operation by the end of 2019.

Shareholders of Trianel Windpark Borkum II are EWE AG (37.5%), ewz Offshore Borkum GmbH (24.51%) and 17 German municipal utilities together with Trianel GmbH (37.99%).
