Photo of the Day: First Race Bank Turbine Up

A2SEA’s wind turbine installation vessel Sea Installer, together with DONG Energy and Siemens Wind Power, installed the first Siemens 6MW turbine on the 573MW Race Bank wind farm off North Norfolk on 9 May.

The first out of the 91 Siemens 6MW turbines was installed on 9 May, A2SEA said.

Sea Installer left the Port of Hull with the first batch of turbine components on 7 May and sailed towards the installation site some 17 miles off Blakeney Point.

For a short period of time, Sea Installer will load turbines in Hull side by side with her sister vessel, Sea Challenger, currently installing turbines for Statoil’s Dudgeon offshore wind farm.

“First, it is a great pleasure to have both vessels loading in Hull simultaneously. A magnificent sight to see them side by side. At A2SEA, we are very proud of having such a tight pipeline of projects and I am sure that both our crew offshore and on shore will once again execute a project on time, on budget and safely to the satisfaction of both our client DONG Energy and installation partner Siemens Wind Power,” said Jens Frederik Hansen, CEO at A2SEA.

Race Bank is expected to be fully commissioned in 2018.
