Innogy’s Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm off Helgoland generates green electricity for around 320,000 households annually. Everything from the generation of energy to its transport must run smoothly in order to make the best possible use of the energy. In case of a cable fault on the high seas, the expert knowledge of the Westnetz technicians from the Regional Center Münster will be used, according to innogy.

Six employees were intensively prepared for work on the high seas at the offshore training center in Cuxhaven. This included practical exercises for fire fighting, training for working at height and Sea Survival training.

The 295MW Nordsee Ost is located around 35 kilometres to the north-east of the island of Helgoland in the German North Sea region. It comprises 48 Senvion 6.2M 126 turbines.

The wind farm comprises over 60 kilometres of underwater cables and another 100 meters of cables in the offshore substation.
