Muehlhan Targets Offshore Wind with New Service Unit

Hamburg-headquartered engineering services provider Muehlhan Group has established a new business unit – Muehlhan Wind Service (MWS).

MWS, established as a dedicated company in the group, is operating as a full-scope contractor and supplier of wind turbine technicians and a provider of service solutions.

The company’s scope of services includes mechanical work, electrical & high voltage work, paint & surface treatment, blade work, and HSE/QA consulting.

“Muehlhan Group have extensive expertise, infrastructure and equipment that we wish to utilize for the wind power market, especially offshore wind,” said Jens Mørk – CEO at Muehlhan DK and Muehlhan Wind.

”We have more than 130 years of experience and track-record from among other the Oil & Gas and Shipping industry – and we are used to operate and service our customers on a global scale with approx. 3.000 employees / technicians. We see great similarity to the Wind Industry, and our goal is to be a full-scope preferred partner, that can deliver value-adding and high quality services across the entire value chain within Installation and Service of wind farms. We will initially focus on the European market but we wish to follow our customers into emerging markets as well, such as Asia Pacific and USA.”

MWS officially started operating on 1 May and currently has a pool of more than 300 technicians active in pre-assembly, blade-work, high-voltage work, and service,  Muehlhan said.
