Atlas’ offshore wind team will be providing a range of personnel for Iberdrola including Engineering, Project Management, QHSE, Commercial and Development personnel for this particular project, as well as the provision of offshore client representatives.

“This contract award is a great start to our relationship with Iberdrola as one of their key suppliers of personnel,” Atlas’ Business Manager Offshore Wind, Laura Smith, said.

”The team and I plan to utilise our experiences gained in similar offshore renewable energy projects to ensure we supply the most competent and experienced professionals to this German project.”

Iberdrola is developing Wikinger within the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), about 32 kilometres northeast of the island of Rugen and near the maritime borders with Poland, Denmark and Sweden.

The whole project covers a size of about 50 km2 and consists of 70 5MW Adwen turbines secured to the seabed by jacket foundations.

The project began offshore construction at the beginning of 2016 and will be fully commissioned by 2017.
